What is TESDA?
The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is the government agency that is in charge of providing skills training for those who want to enhance their skills.
Formed in August 25, 1994 to provide jobs and livelihood opportunities for Filipinos, TESDA’s mission today is to develop skilled Filipino workers through two programs: the National Training Program (NTP) and Continuing Education for Active Community Service (CEACS).
The TESDA not only offers short courses but also has a National Training Service Center which provides technical-vocational education programs as well as services like counseling, assessment, placement assistance and evaluation.
They are also responsible for administering the apprenticeship program, which is a partnership with private companies to provide skilled workers.
TESDA offers courses in agriculture, engineering, information technology, tourism, and many more fields of study.
In order to provide skills training for those who want to enhance their skill set, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority was established by the Philippine Government.
Their main goal is to help Filipinos get jobs related to their area of expertise or interest so they can become more employable among other job seekers.
The Courses offered by TESDA
The courses offered by TESDA are designed to help meet the needs of a rapidly changing workplace.
The course offerings include technical-vocational education and training, continuing education, and professional development programs for Filipino workers.
In addition to providing training opportunities in order to improve employment prospects, TESDA also provides scholarship programs that aim at enabling students from disadvantaged families or communities have access to quality vocational training.

The TESDA application process starts by choosing one of the following: Career Planning Services, Leadership Program, or Training Program.
Once you’ve chosen your program type there are still more steps involved before you can be accepted into any of these types of programs.
In order to apply with TESDA you need a valid IDs; if it’s your first time applying then you will also need a photocopy of your birth certificate or any document proving your Filipino citizenship, like a voter’s ID card …
Requirements for applying in TESDA
- Certificate of Birth (NSO copy)
- 1×1 or 2×2 Photo ID with white background (for record purposes)
- High School diploma
- Good Moral Character Certificate or Honorable Dismissal Certificate
- NC Certification (if needed)
- Additional photo ID (Passport size) for any scholarship program available in the institute of your choice.
- You will also need medical certification and an NBI clearance certificate as well as police clearance from both places where you’ve lived in the past five years – plus barangay clearances if applicable!
